Evan Chambers
It was not until age eighteen, while studying at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, that Evan Chambers actually began working with glass and copper. With an excellent metalsmithing program run by Clarissa Hewitt and a mentor found in glassblower and metalworker master Fred Cresswell, who taught him how to make art nouveau glass, he was able to hone his skill using the industry’s tools and machines. Shortly thereafter, he purchased a local glass studio with Elaine Hyde and the two ran that studio for five years, working with the likes of Andy Paiko and Ken Peterson.
Chambers left San Luis Obispo in the winter of 2009 and returned to his home town of Los Angeles to build his own studio. This is where you can find him today, continuing to hone his craft, utilizing copper, bronze and glass meticulously to create the one-of-a-kind lamps and art objects seen below.
