The Minature Insect Dioramas of Lisa Wood
"Insects at Home" is the newest collection of miniature insect dioramas currently on view at the gallery by San Franscisco based artists, Lisa Wood.
Housed in glass domes and boxes, the fantastical dioramas feature anthropomorphic depictions of insects in domestic, story book recreations: climbing ladders, reading books, holding tea parties and socializing in their secret, everyday lives hidden from praying human eyes.
Each diorama in the "Insects at Home" collection is made with real insects situated in natural settings made with both natural and man-made "props". A majority of the pieces in this collection have been sealed in glass domes with wooden bases that measure 4"x4.25". Larger dioramas, that not only depict intricate scenes above ground buth below as well, are housed in glass boxes that measure up to 12"x12"x6".
These pieces cannot be shipped. Purchases must be made in store. Please inquire regarding availability.
